What do you get at a Lock City Drift lesson?
Drivers start off the morning by meeting each other and the instructors in a classroom setting, going over the course, the cars and safety protocols. Shortly after that, they head over to the skid pad to start their 1-on-1 lessons. Instructors will be inside and outside of students cars, teaching the basics of drifting like how to do donuts, figure eights and all of the clutch kicking fun that comes along with a day on the skid pad!
By the end of the lesson the student will have a very good foundation of what it takes to start sliding around some corners. Instructors will even give tips and tricks on how to set up students personal car to get the most out of their ride. Contact us using the form below to inquire about signing up!

Frequently Asked Questions
If you’re bringing a personal car for your lesson, it must pass our Tech Regulations. You can review them on the Tech page here. There are no exceptions to these rules. We do not inspect your car before your lesson, so if a safety issue is discovered during your lesson, you may be asked to forfeit your lesson without a refund. Generally these rules are in place to keep you and others safe as well as make sure your car is operating correctly. Use our tech rules as a guideline to make sure your car will be driving to its full capacity!
For private group rental rates, please send us an email at info@lockcitydrift.com. We currently have the capacity to take up to three students driving individual rental cars. This is a great bachelor party or birthday event idea!

No. Lock City Staff will not change wheels on your personal car or mount tires on your personal wheels. It is recommended you bring a second set of tires already mounted to a spare pair of wheels and you know how to properly jack up the rear of your car and change wheels/tires out. If you are renting a school car you don’t need to worry about this, a set of tires will already be mounted and on your vehicle.
It’s always safe to plan on burning through one set of tires for your lesson. It’s recommended to bring an extra set of wheels/tires already mounted and ready to go, access to the tire machine during school days is not guaranteed.
We can take a maximum of 10 drivers for a school day. Even with a full driver count, students get plenty of time behind the wheel!
On average out students get between three and four hours of driving in during the day. It might not sound like a lot, but with our curriculum you’ll be surprised how much progress you’ll make by the end of the day!
Unfortunately not. Our curriculum is designed to build upon skills in stages throughout your lesson. Switching cars/drivers throughout the day doesn’t give each driver enough time to master each of the skills before moving onto the next one.
Currently all lessons are on the skidpad at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park. The skidpad is a large, completely open paved lot. It’s perfect to learn everything from donuts and figure eights if you’re just starting out but has enough room to create an entire multi-turn layout to hone in those transitions.
Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park is located at 205 E Thompson Road, Thompson CT 06277.
